More ranting
Just remembered that someone asked me, "Why do you run ten miles if your races are only three miles?" Now that I think about it I may have lost respect for that person since they asked it in a very mocking tone. Asking that question is almost like asking, "Why throw a ball a few hundred thousand times if you're only going to throw it a couple hundred times during a game" or, "Why practice playing a song over and over if you're only going to play it once during a competition". We practice more than we do because we want to become better. If you cannot understand at least that, then are you really an athlete? Your body may be of an athlete, but your mind is certainly not. We practice more than we do because we want to become better. "When a person trains once, nothing happens. When a person forces himself to do a thing a hundred or a thousand times, then he certainly has developed in more ways than physical. Is it raining? That doesn't matter. Am I tired? That doesn't matter, either. Then willpower will be no problem." -- Emil Zatopek
